Expert in the Game and Business of Golf

The game of golf has been part of my life from a very young age. Everyone in my family plays the game of golf. I have great memories of playing golf with my grandparents, especially my grandfather, shagging balls all day while my mother was in law school, and making my first golf team in the ninth grade. Thus my destiny with golf as my partner began.

My first job in the golf industry was running the tee boxes at Andrews Air Force Base while I was in my junior year of high school. Since that time for as long as I can remember I have had a passion for the game of golf and my dream was to be golf professional. The experiences that I have had in my journey to becoming a golf professional have been in every aspect of the golf operation. I have experience working for private clubs as well as semi private resorts.

On my way to becoming a golf professional I have had other jobs that have taught me real world experiences. One summer I had opportunity to work for Congressman Bonilla on Capitol Hill. I have also in worked in our family business of Strategic Planning and War Gaming that required me to fine tune my communication and computer skills. The clients are senior level decision makers in both the government and private sectors. You must understand their challenges. This real world experience has greatly assisted me in becoming the all dimensional professional I am today.

In 2001 I was accepted to New Mexico State University that is home to one of the top four Professional Golf Management Programs in the country. This school required me to attain a Business degree in Marketing as well as my PGM certification simultaneously. In this competitive program I not only developed as a more competitive golfer but exposed me to the professional standards that I as a golf professional am committed to maintaining. These include not only consistently ensuring that members and their guests have distinctive and pleasurable golf experience from the time the outside staff until the time they get in their car to go home. This is a club’s best avenue of advertising. One good experience shared with others will better establish a clubs reputation in community which in turn increases revenue.

I am fully committed to the sport and profession of golf. It’s in my blood. It’s my life and my future.

My teaching experiences have been extensive in my career. I have been teaching golf to students for close to 7 years now. While I was in Carmel California I ran Nike golf camps. During my career I have attended teaching summits in New England with Mike Weirs swing coach. These experiences have not only made me a better teacher but also a stronger professional. I have also introduced golf to juniors in New Mexico with an after school program at my daughters elementary school. My belief in introducing the game of golf to new students is vital to the game of golf. Teaching is a big part of my career I have taken students who couldn’t break 100 and helped them to achieve those goals. My philosophy is to be able to suit my teaching style to each individual student, and will always be available to them whether it be a quick question or a 45 min lesson on the tee.
